Application and Samples
Compared with Q-switched fiber lasers, MOPA fiber lasers have an adjustable pulse width and a large frequency range.
The Q-switched Laser marking machine’s pulse width is fixed, the field is about 80-120ns, and the frequency is 20KHz-80KHz. MOPA marking machine (take HAN’S MOPA 20 watts as an example), the pulse width is 4-200ns, which is adjustable and has a frequency of 1.5KHz-1000KHz.
For applications such as the blackening effect of anodized aluminum and stainless steel’s coloring effect, the MOPA fiber laser marking machine has its advantages.
When we use the fiber laser marking machine to remove the paint layer on a thin workpiece, it is easy to deform the back surface and produce a “convex hull” on the back cover. The use of the smaller pulse width parameters of the MOPA laser allows the Laser to stay on the material for a shorter period. When the speed is faster, the heat residue is less, it is not easy to form a “convex hull,” and the Laser marking texture is also smoother and brighter.
Laser marking of anodized aluminum blackening effect uses a narrow pulse width. These high-frequency parameters mark the black effect on the material’s surface, and different grayscale effects can be marked through different parameter combinations.
Laser marking of stainless steel color marking effect. The color change is mainly affected by frequency and power. Small and medium pulse width and high frequency are used. The difference in these colors is primarily affected by the Laser’s single pulse energy and the overlap rate of its spots on the material. Because the pulse width and frequency of the MOPA fiber laser are independently adjustable, changing one of them will not affect the other parameters. All these parameters cooperate to achieve various possibilities, which is impossible for the Q-switched Laser marking machine.
